Reflections on 2023 and Strategies for a Positive 2024

As we approach the end of the 2023 calendar year and reflect on the past three years, I am sure that you’d agree that a return to some sort of normality is a welcomed change. Amidst the challenges faced, particularly among our business clients, perseverance has been the key.

In acknowledging the upcoming hurdles of the 2024 calendar year—high interest rates and a slowing economy—I want to stress the importance of maintaining work-life balance to avoid burnout. In challenging times, the support of loved ones makes the hard work worthwhile.

As the end of the year approaches, I'm personally committed to:

1. Expressing appreciation to those around me, both personally and in a business context.
2. Practicing kindness, especially during the demanding months of November and December.
3. Demonstrating patience with business associates, customers, and suppliers, recognising the strain many face with the current 3.7% unemployment rate.
4. Empowering and encouraging those working with me, focusing on the positive side of challenges. I recall a former employee's wise words: "There are no problems in life, only challenges to overcome."
